A parallel discipline sharing many of the attributes we like as animators is found in live performance. Weather this meant using softwares like Arena, Modul8 or similars, these days node based applications and code perform regularly on the live act circuit, granting a level of personalization unseen. Processing, one of my top respected tools or languages for this, is a good place to start. If you’re familiar with coding or want to start to learn it, go for it. Here a solid example on the possibilities. From sound reaction, to procedural motion. No 3d software can concede these looks and behaviours.

Just recently selected by the Premio Montevideo de Artes Visuales and exhibited at the Centro de Exposiciones Subte from now until October, Attractor - Repeller a neat audiovisual / installation by Mathias Chumino aka C03RA and music by Autopol together with a live performance.

Nice micro site to go along with full info on the project here.

Attractor - repeller

ATTRACTOR REPELLER AudioVisual performance by AUTOPOL (Pol Villasuso) & C03RA (Mathías Chumino). An exploration of dualities and tensions in aggregation and desintegration, continuous - discontinuous in sounds and visuals phenomenas. These dualities are more simple explained if you think or imagine the topography mountain / valley. The attraction energies happens in the valley while the repeller forces happens at the top of the mountain. This performance interpellates smooth - fluted fields as an audiovisual
